Piramida d.o.o. is producer of pharmaceutical glass vials and ampoules. It is an autonomous company in private ownership. About 90% of its production is exported, while only about 10% is sold on domestic market.

65 years of tradition in pharmaceutical glass production

Piramida was founded on October 1st, 1950, as Municipal Association of Glaziers (specialized in Christmas tree decorations), headquartered in Zagreb. A few years later it moved to a new location and started the production of thermos flasks, vials and ampoules. Since acquisition of first vial-production line (type Ambeg), it produces exclusively pharmaceutical glass vials and ampoules. At the beginning of 1970-ties, Piramida acquires vial production line type Amber-RP and Couclet, while ampoules are produced on type Scharmois and Anrep lines.

In 1979 Piramida moves to today's location and acquires modern production lines (Moderne Mecanique) for ampoule production, as well as type 3BS and BZ 16 lines for vial production. At that time, most of our production was for domestic market and for the markets of Eastern Europe. At the end of 1990-ties our production starts to grow again.

After the end of the privatization process in year 2001, our investments are growing and trend of further technical modernization is started. Piramida is entering the European market and experiences a sudden rapid growth of production. In year 2002 we certified our Quality Control Management System according to ISO 9001 standard, which was integrated with our Environmental Management System (ISO 14001 standard) one year later). In year 2003 we built Clean rooms which are in accordance with ISO 14644-1 Class ISO 8 standards, for packaging of our products. Since 2011 the Company is also certified according to ISO 15378 standard which provides conditions for Primary packaging materials for medicinal products.

In July 2012 regional private equity fund Blue Sea Capital acquired 100% ownership of Piramida with intent to double the production capacity of the company by 2016 by further investments. Furthermore, they plan to maintain Company's focus on modern technology, investing in employees and highest quality products thus making Piramida into one of the 5 largest producers of glass pharmaceutical packaging in Europe.

Modern vial and ampoule production, where nothing is left to chance

Find out more about our ampoule production

Ampoule production is done on most modern production lines MODERNE MECANIQUE MM 30 LA 502 and LA 500, with automatic glass tube refilling carousels and with calibration for complete control of the most important production parameters.

For ampoule production we use glass tubes 1500mm in length, of various diameters, depending on the dimensions of the chosen ampoule.

Glass tubes are put into production line and automatically launched into the ampoule shaping part of the line, where a system of rotating heads rotates the tubes while burners are heating the glass equally from all sides. Heated tube is pulled into predefined length and shaped into an ampoule of desired shape and dimensions. 

After shaping, the ampoule is cut from the remaining tube still in the machine. Cutting is done through the use of special burners which at the same time cut and open the ampoule. Our line has 30 burner heads and the cycle is repeated until all the heads go through it and we get 28-32 ampoules from every glass tube, after which another tube is loaded in.

After this, freshly made ampoules are loaded onto calibration and break-point production line. Break point can be of OPCX type (one point cut, where cut is marked by spot of paint) or CBR type (color break ring which is slightly etched into the glass, making it more easily breakable at that point).

Depending on customer requirements, on this line we can also put code identification rings (colored rings) as well as screen printed text or graphics onto the ampoule body.

All the produced ampoules are then sent through glass tension release oven, and for final fixing of the paint and sterilization, at the temperature of 560°C to 630°C. After this they are directly deposited into Clean rooms for final packaging into plastic or cardboard boxes.

Following this, boxes are palletized and stored in our final product warehouse.

We have the capability for complete automated electronic control of all dimensional and cosmetic characteristics of our ampoules.

What is the technology we use for vial production?

For vial production we use type 3BS and BZ-16 production lines from S.P.A.M., and glass tube 1500mm long of varying diameter (depending on vial dimensions).

Production line has two main parts, part A with upper work heads and part B with lower work heads.

On our 3BS line, part A has 24 work heads while part B has 2 times 8 heads.

Our BZ-16 line part A has 16 work heads while part B has 8 work heads.

Part A of a line produces the vial neck, while part B produces the bottom of the vial. Both are the part of same line.

Glass tubes are loaded into upper work head of part A through automatic loader, serially into all the work heads. After the work heads are filled, burners are heating the end of the tube so that it could be shaped by work heads. Heated tubes in part A are shaped through three different automated tools, one of which shapes the neck, one which shapes the body of the vial, and one which finishes them off.

After the upper part of the vial is shaped, special burner system cuts the vials from the remainder of the tube and they move to part B work heads to shape the bottom of the vial.

When shaping is finished, the vial is transported to dimensional calibration line and, if needed, the screen printing line. After this, robot manipulators move them to glass tension release and sterilization ovens for final finish at the 560°C-630°C temperature.

Finished vials are automatically transported to Clean rooms for final inspection and packaging into plastic or cardboard boxes. They are then palletized and stored in warehouse.

High quality of our production equipment guarantees high levels of cleanliness in our production spaces, and by extension, the final product also.

All the products are packaged in Clean rooms that follow ISO standards ISO 14644-1 class ISO 8. (purity class 100.000).

Environmental care

Piramida has in its organization a Sector for quality and environmental control, whose task it is to take care of environmental concerns as well as following the environmental laws and regulations.

In what way is Piramida taking care of environment?

Care for environment is seen through:

  • separation of different types of waste for recycling purposes
  • toxic waste separation (paints, oils, analysis chemicals)
  • waste glass separation
  • constant work for securing a healthy working environment

This is how through our own efforts we are striving to contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment.

Piramida system for environment management is standardized and certified with ISO 140001:2015 standard.

General sale terms and conditions of products of Piramida d.o.o.

SCOPE OF APPLICATION

These General terms and conditions of sale of products of Piramida d.o.o. (hereinafter referred to as: the Terms and Conditions) make the component part of all agreements of sale between Piramida d.o.o. and the customers of products from the product range of Piramida d.o.o. By purchasing the products from the product range of Piramida d.o.o., the customer accepts these Terms and Conditions.

These Terms and Conditions are applied in all cases of sale of products from the side of Piramida d.o.o., if not otherwise stipulated by agreement/offer between Piramida d.o.o. and the customer.

QUANTITIES FOR ORDER

Minimal quantities for order of one product type:

  • 100.000 pieces - vials
  • 300.000 pieces - ampoules

Piramida d.o.o. may accept also the orders which are smaller than those above-stated, but in this case the adjustment of machine will be additionally paid  in the amount of 800,00 EUR with vials  and in the amount of  500,00 EUR with ampoules.

CONFIRMATION OF ORDER

After Piramida d.o.o. has sent the written confirmation (by e-mail or fax), it is considered that the order is accepted. In case that Piramida d.o.o. is not in a position to offer the delivery time which is stated in the order, the time of delivery mentioned in the order confirmation will be applied.
The quantity ordered is the quantity stated in the order confirmation, if differs from that mentioned in the customer's order.
The customer is entitled to file an objection to the correction of the quantity referred to the order of Piramida d.o.o. within 24 hours upon the receipt of order confirmation.

DELIVERY

Piramida d.o.o. reserves the right to deliver up to three different serial numbers of identical product on particular palettes when delivering particular product as well as the right of delivering the incomplete palette. 
Piramida reserves the right to depart from the quantity ordered when delivering particular article, that is for:

  • ± 5 % for the quantities ordered above 1.000.000 pcs of ampoules
  • ± 7 % for quantities ordered less than 1.000.000 pcs of ampoules
  • ± 5 % for quantities ordered above 500.000 pcs of vials
  • ± 7 % for quantities ordered less than 500.000 pcs of vials

TAKING DELIVERY OF GOODS

In case the customer is in delay with taking over the delivered goods, or the customer postpones taking over the delivered goods, the customer is obliged to pay Piramida d.o.o. storage charges of 0,1% of goods value per day, for each day of delay. The storage charges may not exceed 10% of total value of goods.

OFFER OPTION

The offer is valid for 7 days.

PAYMENT

The payment is made as advance payment (at least 3 days prior to delivery) in the amount of 100% of total price, if not otherwise stipulated in the valid offer or by agreement. The default interest of 12% per annum is charged for delay in payment.
Parity is EXW INCOTERMS 2010, if not otherwise stipulated in the offer or by contract.

OBJECTION

The objection is made in a written form within 15 days from the receipt of the goods from the side of the customer for apparent defects, respectively, within 12 months from the receipt of the goods from the side of the customer for latent defects.
The objection must obligatory include the Piramida's serial number of product, name of the product, date of production, the amount of defective products and the description and percentage of determined defects. The customer is also obliged to deliver the samples of defective products.
The customer is entitled to return the products which are determined as defective only after the written approval of Piramida d.o.o.
As agreed with the customer, Piramida d.o.o. will replace the defective product or to compensate for the expenses to the customer.
Piramida d.o.o. is not responsible for the damage above the amount of the value of defective products.

PACKING OF GOODS

The products of Piramida d.o.o. are packed into the polypropylene boxes. The boxes are stacked on euro palettes (1200 x 800 mm) and wrapped in stretch foil.

STORAGE

The goods should be stored in a closed, clean and dry place, well protected from outside influences.

OWNERSHIP OF GOODS

The ownership of the goods remains with Piramida d.o.o. until such time as the payment of the full price of the goods is recorded on the business account of Piramida d.o.o. including any and all incidental expenses.

SETTLEMENT OF DISPUTES

All disputes arising from and in connection with these Terms and Conditions , respectively in connection with the agreement concluded between Piramida d.o.o. and the customer, including the disputes referring to the issues of their valid origin, breach or termination, as well as in connection with the legal consequences thereof , shall be finally settled by arbitration in accordance with the Rules of Arbitration of the Permanent Court at the Croatian Chamber of Commerce as in force ( the Zagreb Rules).

SEVERABILITY

If any of the provisions of these Terms and Conditions shall be declared or become null and void or be held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. Such void, invalid or unenforceable provision shall be immediately replaced by another provision, which shall in a legally correct manner accomplish as nearly as possible the purpose and intent of the void, invalid provision. If there are more void or invalid provisions, this clause is applied for each void, invalid or unenforceable provision.

FORCE MAJEURE

Piramida d.o.o. is not responsible for any damage, increased costs or loss which the customer has suffered or may suffer due to delay or non-fulfillment of obligations from the side of Piramida d.o.o. in the cases including: war, invasion, action of enemies, terroristic actions, outbreak of hostilities (regardless whether the war is announced or not), civil war, rebellion or uprising, actions of Government or actions which are in accordance with any request of the Government; epidemic, cases such as earthquakes, tornado, hurricane, fire; stoppage in production and in business operations as the consequence of court orders, bans or similar orders received by third parties; collective labor disputes, or strikes or protests; accidents with machines, plants or the parts of plants which are used as places for fulfilling the obligations towards the customer.

In the cases referred to the previous paragraph, Piramida d.o.o. has the right to give up or cancel partly or fully the assumed orders without any obligations and responsibilities towards the customers.
