Piramida d.o.o. is producer of pharmaceutical glass vials and ampoules. It is an autonomous company in private ownership. About 90% of its production is exported, while only about 10% is sold on domestic market.

65 years of tradition in pharmaceutical glass production
Piramida was founded on October 1st, 1950, as Municipal Association of Glaziers (specialized in Christmas tree decorations), headquartered in Zagreb. A few years later it moved to a new location and started the production of thermos flasks, vials and ampoules. Since acquisition of first vial-production line (type Ambeg), it produces exclusively pharmaceutical glass vials and ampoules. At the beginning of 1970-ties, Piramida acquires vial production line type Amber-RP and Couclet, while ampoules are produced on type Scharmois and Anrep lines.
In 1979 Piramida moves to today's location and acquires modern production lines (Moderne Mecanique) for ampoule production, as well as type 3BS and BZ 16 lines for vial production. At that time, most of our production was for domestic market and for the markets of Eastern Europe. At the end of 1990-ties our production starts to grow again.
After the end of the privatization process in year 2001, our investments are growing and trend of further technical modernization is started. Piramida is entering the European market and experiences a sudden rapid growth of production. In year 2002 we certified our Quality Control Management System according to ISO 9001 standard, which was integrated with our Environmental Management System (ISO 14001 standard) one year later). In year 2003 we built Clean rooms which are in accordance with ISO 14644-1 Class ISO 8 standards, for packaging of our products. Since 2011 the Company is also certified according to ISO 15378 standard which provides conditions for Primary packaging materials for medicinal products.
In July 2012 regional private equity fund Blue Sea Capital acquired 100% ownership of Piramida with intent to double the production capacity of the company by 2016 by further investments. Furthermore, they plan to maintain Company's focus on modern technology, investing in employees and highest quality products thus making Piramida into one of the 5 largest producers of glass pharmaceutical packaging in Europe.

Modern production of ampoules and vials
Ampoules are produced on top of the line Moderne Mecanique production lines (MM 30 LA-500, LA-501 and LA-502) and KYP (MM-30) with automatic glass filler feeding the carousels and with calibration gauges for the one-stop control of the most important production parameters.
For production of ampoules, glass tubes of 1500 mm in length are used, depending on the dimensions of the ampoule produced.
Glass tubes are placed in the machine chargers and automatic fillers insert the tubular glass into the part of the machine designed for processing and making ampoules. Glass rotation is performed through the rotating head system, while the burner system ensures the heating of the glass tubes from all sides. The heated tube extends to the required length and is formed to the desired shape and size of the ampoule.
After forming, the ampoule is separated from the rest of the glass tube on the line. Separation is performed by means of special burners which perform separation and simultaneously open the ampules. The machine is fitted with 30 heads and the cycle is repeated until all the heads are drawn and until 14 to 32 ampoules from each tube are obtained, after which the filling process is repeated.
In the melting spot two automatically adjusted special burners are used to achieve top quality ampoules according to customer specifications. The resulting ampoules then continue on the line where OPC, CBR, score ring, print or color rings are added.
Depending on the customer's request, the ampoules are treated with colored coding rings for easier drug identification. Screen printing with text or images on the body of the ampoule may also be applied.
All produced ampoules pass through the stove so the paint adheres to the ampoule as well as for sterilization at temperatures between 560 ° C to 630 ° C, after which they enter the clean room where they are packed in plastic (akylux) or carton boxes.
After packaging, the pallets are transported to the palletizing and storage facilities.
We are able to produce ampoules with 100% electronic control of dimensional and cosmetic characteristics.
Production of vials
For production of vials we use glass tubes 1500 mm in length with different diameters depending on the dimensions of the vial.
The production line has two main parts, the A-head assembly with the upper working heads and the B-head with the lower working heads.
On the 3BS machine, the A-circuit has 24 heads, and the B-circuit is 2 times by 8 heads.
On the A-head, the neck of the vial is formed, while the bottom is made on the B-head. The circuit system is unique, as it constitues the basis of the machine.
The tubes are filled in the upper head of the machine on the A-head via an automatic charger and in turn on all the heads. After filling the head, the burners heat the top of the glass tube to prepare the raw material for the molding tools. The heated glass on the A-head is formed by the input tool (used to make the vial opening) and by the molding tool to the desired shape of the vial. The shaping is done in three stages; first moulding, second moulding and then on the finishing tools.
After forming the neck, the burner system separates the vial from the rest of the pipe and the bottom is formed on the B-head of the machine. The manufactured vial is transported to the dimension calibration line and, if necessary, an ink screen for print is applied. The vials are transferred via a robotic arm into a kiln release and sterilization is done at temperatures between 560°C and 630°C.
Finished and cooled vials are transported from the kiln to the clean room where the inspection and packaging is done in plastic (akylux) or carton boxes. The boxes stacked on the pallet are then transported to the palletization and storage warehouse.
Packaging of all products is carried out in clean rooms that meet the requirements of International Standard ISO 14644-1, Class 8 ISO 8 and GMP Class D.
In its organization scheme Piramida has a Quality Control and Quality Sector that takes care of all aspects of environmental impact as well as compliance with laws and regulations.
Care for the environment is implemented by:
- separation of waste for recycling
- adequate disposal of hazardous waste (paint, oils, analytical chemicals)
- disposal of waste glass and
- constant care for ensuring a healthy working environment.
In this way we strive to contribute to a clean and healthy environment.
Piramida's Environmental Management System is standardized and certified according to ISO 14001: 2015.
General Sales Conditions of Piramida d.o.o.
General Sales Conditions of Piramida d.o.o. (hereinafter: the Terms) are an integral part of all sales contracts between Piramida d.o.o. and the buyers of Piramida d.o.o. products. By purchasing products from Piramida d.o.o. the buyer accepts these Terms.
These Terms apply to all sales of Piramida d.o.o. unless stated by contract / offer between Piramida d.o.o. and the buyer.
The order is deemed to be accepted after Piramida d.o.o. sends a written confirmation (by e-mail or fax). If Piramida d.o.o. is unable to offer the delivery deadline specified in the order, the delivery deadline specified in the order confirmation will be applied.
Ordered quantity is considered the quantity specified in the order confirmation, if it is different from the one specified in the buyer's order. Buyer has the right to object to the order quantity corrected by Piramida d.o.o. within 24 hours of receipt of order confirmation.
Piramida reserves the right to deliver a particular article, so that up to three different serial numbers of the identical product can be delivered on any individual pallet. Piramida also reserves the right to deliver an incomplete pallet.
Piramida reserves the right to vary the quantity ordered when delivering a particular item for:
- ± 5% for ordered quantities over 1,000,000 pieces of ampoules
- ± 7% for ordered quantities less than 1,000,000 ampoule pieces
- ± 5% for orders over 500,000 vials
- ± 7% for ordered quantities of less than 500,000 vials
Receipt of Goods
In case the buyer is late to pick up the goods or postpones the takeover of the goods, the buyer is obliged to pay Piramida d.o.o. a total of 0.1% value of goods per day for each day of delay. Storage fees can not exceed 10% of the total value of the goods.
The offer is valid for 7 days.
Payment is made in advance (3 days before delivery at the latest) in the amount of 100% of the total price unless otherwise stated in the valid offer or contract.
In case of delays in payment, penalty interest is charged at the rate of 12% per annum. Parity is EXW according to INCOTERMS 2010 unless otherwise stated in the offer or contract.
A complaint shall be made in writing within 15 days of receipt of the goods by the buyer for visible defects, or within 12 months of receipt of the goods by the buyer for hidden defects.
The objection must include the serial number of the product, the name of the product, the date of production, the quantity of inadequate products, and the description and percentage of the defects found. Also, the buyer is required to submit samples of inadequate products. Products that are found to be inadequate may be returned by the buyer only after written approval by Piramida d.o.o.. In agreement with the buyer, Piramida will replace the defective product or will compensate the buyer for the funds paid. Maximum liability of Piramida d.o.o. is limited to the purchased value of non-compliant products.
Piramida d.o.o. products are packed in polypropylene boxes. The boxes are stacked onto euro pallets of 1200 x 800 mm and are covered with stretch film.
The goods must be stored in an enclosed, dry and clean area, protected from external influences.
OWNERSHIP OF GOODS
The goods remain the ownership of Piramida d.o.o. until payment to Piramida d.o.o. account has been executed and recorded for the full price of the goods, including any other costs incurred.
For all disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions, or from the Agreement between Piramida d.o.o. and in connection with them, including disputes relating to issues of their validity, breach or termination, as well as the legal effects resulting therefrom, shall be finally settled by arbitration in accordance with the Rules of Arbitration at the Permanent Court of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce. The governing law for dispute resolution shall be Croatian law.
Should any provision of these Terms be null and void, the remaining provisions of the General Terms and Conditions shall remain in force. A non-binding provision will be replaced by a valid provision that is closest to the commercial purpose the Contracting Parties intended to achieve by an earlier provision which has been declared null and void. If there are more non applicable provisions, this clause applies to any null provision.
Piramida d.o.o. is not responsible for any damage, increased cost or loss that the customer would suffer or could suffer due to delays or non-fulfillment of obligations by Piramida d.o.o. in events such as war, invasion, external enemy action, terrorist activity, hostility (regardless whether war is declared), civil war, rebellion or uprising, the activities of the Government or any action consistent with any Government demands; the outbreak of an epidemic; natural disasters such as earthquakes, tornadoes, storms and fires; substantial business delays as a result of court orders, prohibitions or similar orders received by third parties; collective labor disputes, or strikes, or acts of protesters; accidents on machinery plants or parts of plants used to fulfill obligations towards the buyer. In cases from the preceding paragraph Piramida d.o.o. has the right, without any obligation or responsibility to the buyer, to completely or partially waive or cancel the orders it has taken over.
